3D Elmo Cake

This is the cake I made for my son for his 1st birthday. I used with Wilton 3d stand up bear pan and for the base cake used 2 9×13 cakes. I used the buttercream frosting recipe that is on the Wilton webpage and for the hat, eyes, nose, and mouth used the marshmallow fondant also on the Wilton webpage. If making this cake I would definitely use the no-taste red icing coloring because with this much red, the taste really stands out and is not so pleasurable to the palate. My son seemed to enjoy it okay though. I received so many compliments on this cake. It took me 8 hours, 4 cake mixes, a dozen eggs, 6 pounds of confectioner’s sugar and 4 sticks of butter but we finally got it done and I was so glad. My hand was cramping something awful. I am an ameteur when it comes to cake decorating, but I have to say that I even impressed myself with this one.
