I made this Dinosaur Train cake for my cousin's 3rd birthday. I couldn't find anyplace that was selling the kits. My aunt bought the dinosaur pan for us to try to make one. I had to change a few things that were on the cake pan to make it look more like "BUDDY". I followed the instructions that were on the cake pan, except for around the belly and down the back. I also made cupcakes to make it look more "girly".
The Dinosaur cake was a Chocolate Devils food cake, with buttercream icing. The cupcakes were a mixture of Strawberry cupcakes with vanilla filling and strawberry icing, strawberry cupcakes with chocolate chips and vanilla icing. Chocolate cupcakes with buttercream filling and buttercream icing, and plain chocolate with buttercream.
It was my first cake that I had made with having to use the different tips. I enjoyed making it and everyone loved it!
My son was in love with Elephants and the movie Dumbo so I knew I had to make a dumbo cake for his 3rd Birthday. Since Dumbo is such an old film it was really hard to locate anything dumbo related to make or add to the cake. We found the stuffed animals at the Disney Store and I made a big cake for the guests and a little cake for my son. Both cakes are made from 2 stacked round cake pans. I used a stencil to create the star on top and then I sat dumbo on the star cut out. My husband helped to glue little sticks to the bottom of the star so Dumbo wouldn't have a bottom full of cake! This was my first cake ever made and I received a lot of compliments on the cake...it was hard to cut it :)
My little grandson LOVES Dinosaur Train on PBS, so I made him this Dinosaur Train Cake. My son had given me the train mold pan, then my Mom gave me another! Love it!!
I found some great dinosaur head candles online, and used a rock candy stick in grayish black to represent steam from steam engine. We have a “G” gauge Christmas train, and the tracks are exactly the right size, so I used several of them to place the individual train cars on the table.
It worked out beautifully and my grandson couldn’t have been happier….. until this year when I made him a Lego Star Wars Millennium Falcon cake with grey and black M&Ms! I love my grand babies!!
This homemade Domo birthday cake was created for my niece for her 6th birthday. She is a big fan of this character. I checked out a few images and just went with it. I used chocolate cake, chocolate frosting and filled with strawberry filling so it was not too much chocolate (like that's possible!). I then used hard candy for the teach and mouth. The eyes are peppermint patties.
