First Birthday Cake

I baked two 9×13 cakes using strawberry supreme cake mix.(Really tasty) I froze them until I was ready to use. I trimmed all the edges and cut the dome off so it would lay flat. I didn’t really get it as flat as I wanted but it was fine. I then frosted the top with vanilla frosting and the sides with reserved icing that I tinted orange. I traced the number onto a piece of wax paper and I used a pin to poke holes around the outline. I just connected the dots with frosting that i tinted pink and purple. I used the star tip around the edges and to fill in the number. I used a roung tip to put little random dots all over the top in different colors and to write my baby’s name. The cake was a big hit and freezing it made it remain super moist. The only thing i didn’t anticipate was how much icing I would need. I think I bought about four 16oz cans by the end of it all.It was a huge hit at the party. Pretty good for my first attempt at cake baking and decorating.
