My cousin was going to have a baby shower for her daughter to be and one of my gifts to her was this cake. Basicaly its just 2 round 10 inch cakes iced with pink buttercream icing for the bottom and a 6 inch round tier stand where the bear sits. The bear was created by using a bear mold pan and piped with store bought chocolate icing. For the eyes, I piped them with a #3 tip and smoothed it out with a small popsicle stick dipped in water to flaten out the eyes. I hot glued some ribbon around the cake board and tier stand and made a small bow from the same ribbon and glued it to a toothpick and inserted on top of the bears head. I also added a small rattle decoration witch you find in the baking section at a craft store and placed it on the bears hand. You can get as creative as you want and change the colors for a boy!
This Sweet Dreams Baby Cake was made for a baby shower. I baked three cakes 10", 8" and 6". I frosted them in butter cream then covered each layer with Fondant. In each layer I had 4 dowels to hold the weight of the cake and I had a large dowel hammered right down the center of the cake.
About 3 days before the shower I cut the stars and moons out of a 50/50 Gum Paste and fondant mixture. I made the baby and blanket out of the same mixture. I laid them out to harden on wax paper. For the big moon and stars I used very thin dowels to attach them with a strip of the fondant/gum paste mixture laid over the dowels.
The night before the shower I used my tiny circle cutter and then cut them in half to make the balls around each layer. It was very time consuming, but well worth it for my sister-in-law and my niece!
This Welcome Baby Cake is our first attempt at fondant (Mom and daughter project).
Bake 2 round cakes, cut around the edge of one to make it smaller for the head. Save the cut edge to make the arms out of. The cake was iced first, then left to set for 10 mins before rolling out the fondant and placing it over top.
White fondant was mixed with brown icing to make his native skin a little darker. Soother is a sour candy.
This baby boy cake is a half sheet cake decorated in pastel blue icing. I first made a square out of white icing and then added the blue around it.
I cut the footprints out with a cookie cutter and the toes out with different size straws and for the small toes I used the end of one of the writing tips. It was the perfect size. I added a ribbon for a finishing touch.
This Baby Cake Design was a fun cake to make! The base is made from two 10-inch cakes (one vanilla, one chocolate with a raspberry filling). I used the Pampered Chef batter bowl to bake the "bum". The blanket, polka dots and ribbon are fondant (Google marshmallow fondant, super easy to make!) To make the legs I bought Ding-dongs, sliced them in half and covered them in fondant.
I used a 10 inch and a 6 inch pan,and covered them with rolled fondant. Then I added a ribbon border. I colored three pieces of fondant green, blue, and yellow. Then I rolled them out and used a three star tip as a cutter for the dots. I used extra fondant to mold the bear.
