Homemade Baby Shower Cake

Homemade Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to do a baby shower cake for a friend of my daughter's. She wanted me to make a fondant cake that was a belly with the foot poking out on the belly and the body in a bikini. I told her I was not very good at fondant but would be glad to make her cake if she would except one made with butter creme frosting only. I try to make my cakes to match the personality of the person receiving it so the bikini was out.

This girl always wears dresses and I felt the dress fit her more. I made the sheet cake with two white cakes in a quarter sheet cake pan and covered it to look like a pink baby blanket (she's having a girl). I made the belly with chocolate cake filled with vanilla pudding with one of those cake pans you can fill with pudding or ice cream. I used the top filler pan to make the breasts.

The entire cake is covered with butter creme frosting. I made the foot ahead of time and used one of my granddaughter's baby doll's feet as a pattern. It was a total hit with everyone at the shower and they raved about how well it tasted along with how beautiful the cake itself was.

Homemade Baby Shower Cake

This is my favorite baby shower cake. So cute and the passy is real. I have made it for a few showers now and it's always a big hit. I love this cake for showers as all the girls think it is too cute and all the guys think it is awful to 'eat' the baby. Lol.

I used an oval pan for the body and a small round six inch for the head. Cut the end of the oval to fit the small round. Do not cut the oval to be flat, the rounder the 'belly' the better. A paper lace doily makes the bonnet and sticks to the head after iced. If you scoop out a little for the mouth, you can stick in the passy ( it's like a gift and a cake in one).

I hope you try this for your next baby shower, it will be a great hit!

I made this Baby Shower cake for my friend Lisa’s baby shower. The cake had four color layers and two flavors. I used vanilla and yellow Betty Crocker cake mixes and separated the batter from each cake into two. I used food color to color the batter before I baked it.

The flowers and the baby are made out of fondant. I bought a fondant mold for the baby and I used a very small cutter for the flowers. There are a lot of on-line guides on how to create big flowers like the one I had in the middle. I watched one on You Tube and I was surprised how simple is to make a flower. I also spelled out the baby’s name with cookies and made colorful girlish onesie cookies for favors.

Coolest Baby Shower Bathtub Cake 15

Homemade Baby Shower Bathtub Cake

Homemade Baby Shower Bathtub Cake

I made this Baby Shower Bathtub Cake for my friends baby shower. I made (2) 13X9 one chocolate and one vanilla. I placed cakes in the freezer for easier handling. Apply frosting to center and add top layer. I cut out the center of the 13X9 to match the size of the plastic container. Frost cake along with the center cut out. I put cake in refrigerator so frosting could set. Once jello has become firm, place into the center of the cake and frost around edge and decorate.

To make water: I used blue jello and filled a small plastic container. As jello started to set I place baby doll so when the jello set, it would hold the doll upright.

Thought your cake was fantastic, used your idea for a Scottish baby shower for a friend, although we don't have blue jello so had to improvise on that one. thanks again

Roni: I actually used a Tupperware container for the tub part. Poured in the jello and sat the baby in it and refrigerated it. Sorry I did not respond earlier. I was not notified you had responded.
