Homemade Barbie Doll Princess Cake

This Barbie Doll Princess Cake was my first time making this kind of cake. It was VERY easy! I got the idea from this site. I used 3 different size glass bowls (that could go in the oven and that would stack to make a dress so I didn't have to cut anything!) sprayed with no-stick spray.

I used 2 cake mixes from the store made according to the box (my daughter's favorite funfetti cake was used for mine) then I bought 2 large tubs of frosting after baking (and you have to let the tall bowls bake a little longer). Let cool completely.

I put just a little frosting between the layers. Then I used a butter knife and spoon I cut out a spot for Barbie (I took her legs off and wrapped her bottom with plastic wrap). After she was in I started putting the frosting on using a star tip, just went around and around to get the pink color, good old fashion food coloring (remember to count your drops so you can match the color if you have to make more frosting!) and that's it.

It took me a few hours because I have a one year old to run after but it was VERY easy. If you are thinking of doing this kind of cake, you can, it was great and my daughter's all love it, it's for my daughters 7th birthday party.

Coolest Barbie Mariposa Cake 362

Homemade Barbie Mariposa Cake

Homemade Barbie Mariposa Cake

I made this Barbie Mariposa cake for our niece. She loves Barbie and I wanted to do something different from the cakes that look like Barbie's gown. So I decided to do the Butterfly Fairy Barbie (Barbie Mariposa).

I made a 14 inch round cake and cut it in half. I turned the halves the opposite way (facing out) and cut notches on each side. This created the butterfly shape. I proceeded with my butter cream icing to do my crumb coat and I then designed and filled the butterfly design on the cake. The sides I did to look like pink ruffles.

After the icing set up on the cake some I placed Barbie on it. The cake was a hit and the birthday girl thought it was so beautiful!

for this cake I did'nt have a doll pan,so I jus baked it in a dome shaped mixing bowl.I had to take the legs off and wrap her in plastic.once I had her in I made the buttercream icing in pink and purpe and did star and flower tips in the alternate areas.I wraped the legs and shoes and gave them to Briana the little girl I gave the cake to so it could be cleaned and put back together to play with.I should have put one more layer under it so as not to have to take the legs off but this was a first try.

Dominican cake has a fruit filling this one had pineapple filling, its taste a bit like sweet moist cornbread and has a meringue frosting

i used a 12'' pan for the base and the top is 9 inch.....for the barbie part i bough a 8 inch styrofoam ball from walmart and cut it in half to make the dress i covered it with frosting and dressed her with frosting. i used that aerosol frosting can for the base at the bottom, covered the cake with Spree candy and used the cookie gel to write on the cake ......Happy Bitrhday Vidaliss Akira Fitzgerald 11/21/2008
