Barbie Cake

Barbie birthday cake
My daughter and I made this Barbie cake for my granddaugter's 5th birthday. This cake took 3 cake mixes and 4 cans of cream cheese frosting. The platform is 2 1/4 sheet cakes stacked together and the skirt is made from 1 bundt cake. We built up the top of her skirt with trimmed pieces of cake then frosted it with a liberal amount of tinted pink icing. The flowers are made of buttercream that we froze for easier handling. We placed them on the skirt and cake. The platform is sprayed with canned color for a grass effect. The trim on the top and bottom of the skirt is a simple shell border. The borders on the platform are a forward-reverse and a double loop.
