For the barn I used 4 8 x 8 cakes and then layered them together and cut the two sides of the top layer on an angel so the excess came out as two triangles and then I just placed the two triangles on the top of the cake to make one big triangle.
I frosted the sides red and the roof white, the doors are graham crackers with red frosting and white x's! The silo is all cake cut into circles and stacked on top of on another and covered in frosting! I left I top one a bit bigger than the rest!
The hay bale is a cupcake with yellow frosting, the road is broken graham crackers and the grass is just green frosting!
Added my daughter's toys for accents and voila, a farm cake!
I made this farm cake for my granddaughter's birthday. The animals are made of fondant. The barn is made from rice krispie treats covered in fondant with impressions for the boards made with a ruler.
I iced the top and added graham crackers from the 100 calorie packs. The cake is 10 x 15 iced with green coconut for the grass, Oreo cookies for the mud and graham cracker crumbs for the dirt. The silo is fudge round cookies covered in buttercream using 150 Wilton tip.
The haystack is a cupcake using 233 grass tip. This is my first attempt decorating a cake. The biggest mistake I made was not double checking my writing. I forgot part of the f.
My granddaughter loved it, especially the animals and that what really counts.
This was for my son's 2nd birthday. We had people coming with lots of dietary restrictions, so it is basically three cakes. The sheet cake ( I never got a picture before it was cut. It had used to have a tractor on it, too) was dairy free. The silo was gluten-free cupcakes stacked on top of each other with a skewer in the center holding them straight.
The barn was made with the Wilton house shaped cake pan. I mixed butter cream frosting and colored it with gel colors. The red for the barn took A LOT of dye. I colored coconut green by shaking it with food coloring in a zipper bag.
My friend asked if I could come up with a Farm Scene Birthday Cake for her son's birthday. He was older so I wanted it to be more detailed to what he wanted instead of "little kid" like. I used a 1/2 sheet cake pan and frosted with buttercream. I used Wilton spray color for the the airbrush look. Colored sugar to create the road, and a farm set I bought at local store for the toppers.
It was great hit with the birthday boy and friends!
