Baseball Cake

It was my son’s first birthday. We decided to give him a baseball themed party. He loves balls and baseball bats so made him a baseball cake.

I decorated a Wilton baseball for him to dig into. I also made a cake for all the guests. The bottom is the green grass of the field (two large round Wilton pans – sorry I can’t remember the size) and put another baseball cake on top.

All cakes were Pillsbury Moist Supreme – Classic White cake. Our favorite. The icing is the Wilton recipe for butter cream. It really is easy and yummy. I used the Wilton icing dyes for the red and green. Be sure to use the “no taste” red, its better.

The cakes were both hits with the guests and my son loved his. I made photo baseball card invites using Photoshop and we decorated the party with baseball players, balls, bats using tablecloths and balloons. We had a cookout with the traditional burgers and dogs. Topping off the tables were boxes of cracker jacks, buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks. Everyone had a great time and loved the cakes!
