Homemade St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Cake

Homemade St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Cake

This is a 1st birthday cake. Large cake is 18" in width & 4 in height. The inside is light blue cake with butter cream icing. Covered in light blue fondant and red fondant letters which were laser cut for detail. The 12" in Cardinal and helmet on top of the cardinal is made out of sculpted rice crispy treats covered in red, yellow, black, white & light blue fondant.

The "STL" on the blue helmet and eyes were also laser cut. The red helmet is the only item that is not edible. Some of the detail with this cake is the laser cut lettering which is centered and curved and the "RJ" letters are in 3 upper layers.

The smaller homemade St. Louis Cardinals baseball cake also is a light blue cake with butter cream icing covered with light blue fondant and laser cut red fondant letters.

Tips and tricks from what I learned was to take a couple of weeks and make a couple of smaller "test" cakes before the main cake. Also to double check the size of your fridge to make sure the cake will fit !

Coolest Softball Cake 54

Homemade Softball Cake

Homemade Softball Cake

I did this softball cake for a friend's daughter. She was turning 9 and she loved playing softball. I started with a 13x9" sheet cake. I used a small glass bowl for the softball and baked two of them. Then I shaved it down and placed them together.

I then started the icing process. I used brown for the baseball diamond and green drop flowers for the grass since I didn't have a grass tip at the time. I smoothed icing around the sides and then used a flat basket-weave tip to do the fence and let it come up over the grass a bit.

I used small drop flowers for the softball and then included her age in the middle of it. I finished up by adding some small flowers( since this cake was for a girl) on the top of the cake and around the sides in between the fence.

It turned out really nice and she loved it!

Going to try this for my granddaughter's 11 birthday. Not sure how to do the ball, think I'm going to use a big muffin pan.

Coolest Twins Baseball Cake 83

Twins Baseball Cake

Twins Baseball Cake

My nephew saw a similar cake on this website but without the instructions on how to get the shape. I don't think I replicated it exactly, but pretty well!

I made this cake by using one 8" square pan and then the Pampered Chef Deep Dish Baker stone. It's important that the diagonal of the square pan matches the diameter of the round pan.

Both cakes were cut in half. (the square diagonally). Each layer is one triangle and one half circle. The Twins logo in the outfield was printed on the computer and then laminated at Kinko's.

Coolest Cardinal Fan Hat Cake 14

Homemade Cardinal Fan Hat Cake

Homemade Cardinal Fan Hat Cake

I made this Cardinal Fan Hat Cake for a friend I worked with, her husband is an avid Cardinal Baseball fan!

I made the cake out of 4 layers of chocolate cake made from scratch. I carved out the shape of the hat, and made the bill out of fondant that I let dry out for 2 days. I covered the frosted cake in fondant and made the Cardinal from fondant. Her husband was very happy with it!
