This Cincinnati Reds Birthday Cake was made for my two nephews who's birthdays are very close together. I came up with the idea because they both are HUGE Reds fans! The icing is CK icing, the items on the cake like the popcorn box, bat and ball are all made from rice crispy treats and covered in Satin Ice fondant.
The letters on the jersey are cut of the new Wilton icing sheets. The cake itself was just a store bought cake mix. I made the score board with Jadin 9 and Jaxon 4 because that was the ages they were turning!
I used the soccer ball pan from Wilton, used boxed funfetti cake (kids always love sprinkles). The pan takes a little over a box, so I made 2 boxes and made 18 cupcakes with the rest of the batter. I covered the cake in homemade buttercream and then ivory satin ice fonfant. I mixed blue satin ice fondant with black gel food coloring to get the navy color for the lettering. I used red buttercream for ball stitching.
The kids loved it this Cleveland Indians Baseball Cake. A really easy cake that looks and tastes good, my favorite kind.
I made this Baltimore Ravens cake for my son's 7th birthday. He actually wanted a Ray Lewis jersey on the cake but I didn't know if I could pull that off.
This is just 2 box cake mixes and buttercream icing. I printed a picture of the Ravens logo on the computer, cut it out and folded it into fourths. Folding the paper helped me make sure my design was in proportion on the cake.
I used a toothpick to draw the logo on the cake and then simply piped the design with a star tip.
I made this Cardinals cake for the Superbowl. I wanted to make something little to show our support of the AZ Cardinals. For this cake I baked a 9inch round butter cake. I filled it with chocolate cream frosting and then covered the cake with chocolate ganache. Then I free-handed the "Big Red" on the cake with buttercream.
The cake was a hit with the Cardinals' fans. The Steelers' fans weren't too thrilled. Go Cardinals!
