My son was turning 14, and he loves basketball and loves the Knicks. Both cakes were half yellow and chocolate. For the jersey I used a 13x9 cake pan. I used store brought icing and sprayed the cake with Wilton blue spray. I did dye some icing orange for my border and the number 14.
For the basketball I got a circle pot that can be put in the oven, it came out a perfect circle. I iced the ball then sprayed it with Wilton orange spray. Then did the lines with black icing.
My son was so happy with this Homemade Jersey Basketball Cake.
This was a really fun cake to make. It's the first cake I covered completely in fondant. The Celtics logo was made with edible markers. What a wonderful tool they are, and then painted with food coloring.
This homemade Boston Celtics birthday cake was for my 11 year old son who is an obvious Celtics fan but most of his friends are Lakers fans.
This is my fourth cake submitted on this website. I scanned quite a few cake ideas, but I always seem to come back to this website. Thanks again for posting.... Comments, like tips, are always appreciated...

This UNC basketball birthday cake is an 11 x 15 white almond sour cream sheet cake. The frosting is almond butter cream. The images were made on sugar sheets using edible ink, my first time using my new computer.
The basketball was a ½ round ball cake. I used a tip 5 for the lines and a star tip 16 to fill. Next time I would crumb coat first to cover any gaps, and maybe use a larger star tip to cover the area in less time.
It still was a huge success at my grandson's party.
This Basketball theme cake was made for my son's birthday. The hat was made from the mini ball pan. The brim was fondant with a little tylose powder added to it. I let the brim sit over night so it can harden. The jersey was just fondant. I printed out a jersey template for the jersey. The basketball was made in the Wilton basketball pan. Thanks for viewing.
This Kentucky Basketball Court Cake was a fun cake to make. It was a groom's cake. The cake is a 19x13 marble sheet cake. I covered it in Kentucky Blue homemade butter cream frosting. The floor was fondant. I took two shades of brown and mixed them together to create a wooden floor. The basketball goals I ordered from Amazon.com.
