This year I decided to make my daughter's 2nd birthday cake, and I'm glad that I did because this Princess Belle Cake was a hit at the party. I used two nine by thirteen cake pans to bake the bottom cake, and a round glass bowl to bake the doll dress. Then I made buttercream icing, and used gel food coloring to dye the icing. I used a star tip to decorate the dress and sides of cake. It was a lot of fun and now I' planning on making my son's cake.
This Princess Belle cake is for my daughter’s 5th birthday. The cake is a lemon pound cake made with the Wilton Wonder mold pan and iced in a yellow butter cream frosting. The doll is “dressed” in yellow fondant and her “skirt” is accented with yellow fondant trim and pink fondant roses.
The cake is surrounded by green coconut “grass”. The frosting and fondants were colored with all natural, food-based dyes.
