Boutonniere Cake

by Tabitha Morris

My friend was getting married and we decided to have and combined bridal shower and bachelorette party. She really is not in to flowers and super frilly girly stuff. I looked on line a lot for some ideas and decided to go with a boutonniere. I baked a half sheet cake using two cake mixes. I then used blue butter cream to create a base coat of icing. I then used more white butter cream for the boutonniere. I used an off set spatula to spread the white icing. I used a writing tip for the pink details around the edge and a flat tip for the pink ribbon bow. It was a really straightforward cake but it was a big hit. You could easily cut a half-sheet cake into the shape of the boutonniere too for a little different effect.
