I made this birthday cake for a guy in my class who likes to hunt. I used a half sheet for the bottom layer. The leaves were fondant with just mixed fall colors pulled thru them.I used cookie cutters to cut the shapes.
The shell was sculpted from a loaf shaped cake. and the metal end was sculpted from a round cake. I used a buckshot or gameload shotgun shell and copied all the writing from it onto the cake.
The icing was buttercream on top as well as thru the different layers to use as a glue to keep the pieces together.
The cake was a huge hit. people from other classes were coming to see the cake. However, the class didn’t get to eat the cake at the party because the young man wanted to show it off at work and home.
