I'm a cake decorator at a grocery store, I love when someone comes up and asks me to do something different. This homemade camo gift cake (for a military man...) is a quarter sheet 9x13 cake on the bottom then I cut a quarter sheet in half and put it on the quarter sheet then I cut the 1/8 of a sheet in half again and placed it on the 1/8.
I iced all the cakes separately before I stack them, as you can see it is for a military man going overseas and this was his farewell cake. I used buttercream to ice my cakes because I think the color stays longer and it looks nicer.

I did this cake for my step son for his 13th Birthday: It is a marble cake mix, and the interior of the cake is also camoflauge. I used miltons ready made frosting mixed with cocoa for a tan mix and the chocolate, and green food coloring for the camo look. I used jelly beans for the sand bags and gram cracker sticks for the fort. All other items are real. This was my first cake... I have always bought them, but I wanted to make cakes for this quadruple birthday party. I had so much fun!
This Camo birthday cake is a 2 layer cake for my son's 8th birthday.
It is a marble cake with chocolate frosting. Then I made the camo colors using for the tan: white frosting with a little chocolate and for the camo green. I used white frosting with 15 drops of green food coloring and 2,3 drops of yellow and mixed a little chocolate in to get the "mossy" look.
Then my son added the army men to his liking and candles. Voila!
