I made this Care Bear Cake for my daughter's 2nd birthday using the Wilton 3-D bear tin in a delicious Orange Chocolate Sour Cream Cake. It is perched on top of a cloud (flower) shaped Banana Cake (which we probably could have done without as there was plenty of cake in the bear - even though it looks quite small).
The Cloud cake is frosted with an American meringue type White Frosting which is gives it a glossy look, but sets quite nicely. The Care Bear's face, tummy & ears are iced with white molding fondant and the body is iced with Vienna cream icing (which I burst 2 icing bags applying!). It's heart shaped nose, bottom TM heart, feet pads & eyes are made from strawberry flavored chocolate & it's eye's & lashes are made of licorice.
The tummy hearts are hand painted in watered down coloured food gel pastes. The cloud has yellow coloured white chocolate stars on it and it is dusted with silver fleck edible dust. I also built up some areas of the cloud with giant marshmallows to give it more dimension.
The guests were amazed it was a cake & they all wanted to try the chocolate stars - even though they weren't flavoured - just coloured!)
This Homemade Care Bear Birthday Cake I made for a friend's baby shower. The theme for her shower was "Care-Bear". I was inspired by another cake from this website made by Helen R. of Ingleside TX.
The cake consists of three individual tiers, each two layers of funfetti cake. I used three different size cake pans for each; a six, nine, and ten inch round pan. The stand that I used is a Cakes 'N More™ 3 Tiered Party Stand from Wilton. I used a basic icing recipe.
I used blue icing for the main color of the cake and piped on the clouds with different sized round icing tips, depending on the cloud size desired. Most of the decorations on the cake, such as the stars and flowers, were made out of fondant. The rainbow and the border of the base of each cake was made out of rainbow twizzlers cut in to appropriate sizes.
The Care-Bear vending machine toys used as toppers were purchased online at amazon.com. It was a big hit at the baby shower!

I made this Care Bear Rainbow Cake for my daughter's combined 3rd and 5th birthday party. They both asked for a rainbow cake and this is what I came up with.
The inside of the cake is also rainbow, done by dividing the batter into 6 small bowls and adding the colours I wanted. The cake is pipped using Betty Crocker creamy delux vanilla frosting, which I put in the fridge at the start of the day so it makes it easier to pipe.
I hope you all like my cake as I love how it turned out and I'm sure all the kids will love it too.
My grand-daughter loved her Care Bear inspired, 3rd birthday cake! This cake consists of 2 separate layered round cakes. The icing was dyed using Wilton's Care Bear dye. Fondant was also dyed and cut into hearts and stars. Edible glitter was used on the clouds, which were made with whipped icing. Finally, the rainbow banner was made out of heavy cardstock.
