I wanted to make a Care Bear theme cake for my daughter's 4th birthday and came here for ideas. I think the cake turned out awesome and she loved it and so did the guests at her party. We usually have a lot of people over for parties so I made two three tier cakes. I've never done this before and was apprehensive but I did research and it all worked out well. It was for in July and it was HOT! So I found a good frosting recipe that held up really well. It sat for a day and a half in my basement covered by a box and everything was still excellent. My husband's face hit the floor because I think he thought I was going to make a pan cake and go that route.
Anyway, Tana loved it the best and was super excited to share it with our family and friends!
This Care Bear Cake was a cake I made for my daughter's fourth birthday. I got ideas on the internet, I used two 9" round cakes and frosted them with bright blue buttercream frosting. I added the clouds with a large round tip. I used care bear figurines and placed them on the clouds and around the cake.
The rainbow is cardboard that I cut into the shape I wanted and covered it with different colored frosting. I attached the care bear on top of the rainbow with a toothpick. I added yellow stars, that I piped with a small round tip. Finally, I covered the cake with edible glitter. I also mixed edible iridescent powder with clear vanilla extract and painted the clouds with it to make them shine.
I was really pleased with the outcome and my daughter loved it.
I saw a photo online of a birthday cake very similar to this one. The cake is a 10" base with an 8" and 6" top. I pre-made the rainbow, and decorations out of fondant. It is iced with butter cream icing. I inserted two dowels behind the rainbow to support it (it was really heavy). I purchased the care bear cake toppers off of e-bay. Overall I think it turned out how I wanted. My daughter loved it.Thanks for looking.
