Ok, so this is my first ever attempt at working with fondant. Not only did I decide to work with fondant, but I decided to make homemade marshmallow fondant on top of that! I was very nervous to say the least and prepared this Disney Cars cake two days before my son’s birthday party to give me time to make another cake if this one was a disaster!
I used a ten inch cake pan for the bottom layer and an eight inch pan for the top layer. I made homemade butter cream icing and put a crumb coat on the bottom layer. Then I covered the bottom layer with the fondant. I then added the top layer, covered it with the butter cream icing and once hardened added the layer of fondant. Then I let my imagination go to work and just worked with the fondant until I created something that I was happy with.
My son absolutely loved this cake for his third birthday! I received lots of compliments at his party on the cake and also a few people asked if I would be willing to make a cake for them! I had a lot of fun with this cake and am looking forward to making the next cake!
Coolest Pixar Cars Birthday Cake
This Pixar Cars birthday cake is awesome. My client text me a picture of this cake and I just modified it a little bit. So, this is a 1/2 sheet marble cake with vanilla butter cream and fresh strawberries. I found the cars and the cars ‘audience’ from a cake supply store. No fondant here. Everything is just butter cream that’s colored copper/yellow/black/green/red. This is really a simple and fun cake to do. Just the back part (“bleachers”) with two more layers of cake and strawberries got heavier. I put about 1 1/2 pounds of fresh strawberries. YUMMY!
Coolest Cars 2 Cake for a 2-Year-Old Boy
This Cars two cake is made from 2-6 inch layers on top and 2-10 inch layers on the bottom. Wooden dowels are used in bottom layers to support the top and one long dowel down the center of all to keep top from sliding. The flavors were just vanilla cake with butter cream icing as requested by the client, using dark blue, red, black and white fondant.
Logo and designs were all done free hand by looking at many pics from the Internet. The road around the bottom is just black fondant with white cut strips of fondant for the lanes. The flags on top were printed from Internet and taped onto wire. The characters were purchased as a kit from a cake supply store. I made this cake for someone else so I did not get to see and hear the reactions but the mother of the birthday boy said it was a big hit!
Coolest Disney Cars Birthday Cake
This Disney Cars birthday cake is the birthday cake I made back in Feb. for my son’s 3rd birthday. He loves all the Disney Cars movies and I wanted to make him something really special. He had become a big brother in November, so I wanted to go the extra mile for his birthday!
The cake is actually made from 4 cakes that I cut to form the stadium. I used colored sprinkles to represent all the other cars in the stands. I also used the cars cake pan from Williams Sonoma to make the individual cars from Radiator Springs. It was a huge hit!
For table decorations I had ordered traffic cone cups for the kids and had lined the table with black poster board and white tape to represent a road. I also bought inflatable tire pool rafts that I stacked as the “leaning tower of tires.” It really was so much fun to put the party together! I hope this will help any parents looking for party ideas for the “Cars Fanatic” like my little boy!
Awesome Cars Two Scene Made of Cakes for a 4th Birthday
My grandson wanted a Cars two birthday cake for his fourth Birthday. I started with the grandstand made out of rice cereal treats and covered with melted chocolate. The “car fans” are fondant, time consuming but not difficult.
I used brownies covered in melted chocolate for the race track and the checkered flag design across the front is made out of mini marshmallow and black licorice.
Each of the round cakes represents a different country from the movie. His birthday included a trip to Disneyland to visit Cars Land so I added a Mickey Mouse shape cake with Lightening and Mater wearing their Disney hats. This year my grandson went to the cake decorating store with me to pick out the sprinkles for his cake and we also found road signs and flags that fit the theme. That made it even more special when he saw the finished cakes all set up for his party.
Coolest Cars Two Birthday Cake
his Cars Two birthday cake was done within a three day notice. The theme was Cars Two and flavor was strawberry banana with strawberry filling.
I wanted everything to be edible so I stared off with two 10X2 inch cakes which makes total 10×4 inch and two 6×2 inch cakes for total of 6×4 inch. The hardest part was thinking of what to put on cake. I had not even seen any Cars movies so I had to really do some research!
I have two daughters so the Cars was more for boys. I Googled images for the movie and that’s how I got started with making scenes for the tiers. The best part for me was sculpting the Cars 2 figures out of rice krispies and bringing them to life with fondant! This was the best part and also was a special treat for the birthday boy! I really amazed myself with such little time, and so much detail. I also cut and added four rice krispy starts for his fourth birthday.
Awesome Cars Cake
I was wanting to have a custom cake that fit the theme that actually tasted good, without spending a fortune. So, the baking God’s were on my side. I had never attempted anything like this before and I just went with it!! I used my Mom’s Hershey cake recipe. She made us a Hershey cake almost every birthday as kids. So, I want to do the same. Plus, it is the best chocolate cake ever! I used my Son’s Car’s figures and crumbled up graham crackers for the dirt. I also never had done 2 tiers. I gave it a go and as to my surprise it turned out great!
