Disney Cars Cake

Disney Cars Cake

Drawing inspiration from a photo of a cake in this section, my mother and her friends made this 3- layer cake that lit up the eyes of my 3 yr-old son! It took them about 10 hrs. to complete, but they insist that the 2 bottles of wine that were consumed throughout this process aided in their productivity!

This cake was a labor of love and consisted of a buttercream icing and fondant was used for the racetrack. The fondant was painted black to give it a nice sheen. The green grass was all hand piped, it is not tinted coconut. Black and white ribbon purchased at a craft store was used on the sides of the cake. The round candies you see are m&m's. The letters on the banner were peel and stick foam letters. All the cars were purchased from the Disney Store, but can be found at almost any store. Three tall red candles with m&m's iced to the side were place in hte center of the first cake.

All the kids and adults were amazed with the cake and it help to set a festive tone for the party. My son was seen eyeing his cake often and was very eager to start playing with the cars. Keeping it all together until it was cut was the hardest part. Enjoy and happy baking to all! Also, thanks to the person who made the cake that gave us this idea- you did an awesome job and thanks for sharing your photos!
