Homemade Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake

Homemade Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake

For my daughter's 5th birthday, she wanted a cake with Cinderella, the prince, and the glass slipper. I started this Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake by making two half sheet cakes. I used the first as a base for the cake and the second I cut into two 7 x 9 inch squares which I used to make the castle.

The “kit” I found online for the castle actually called for a second “story” to the castle, but I found that it would make the castle too heavy to put on top of the sheet cake, so I left it out. To “dress” it up a little bit, I made the castle pink and used a skewer to score the sides of the castle to make it appear to have a brick façade.

I placed the castle on top of the sheet cake and created the “landscaping” to make it appear that the prince was placing the glass slipper on Cinderella on the walk in front of the castle.

This cake is made entirely out of ice cream. For the molds I used two different ones and they are just your normal sand castles buckets that you would buy to go to the beach. I started the cake about a week in advance and would fill the molds with slightly thawed ice cream and then let it freeze over night. I then dipped the molds in hot water for about 15 seconds and had to use quite a bit of strength to squeeze it out the rest of the way because if you dipped it for to long it would melt.

Once I had it all assembled then I bought edible decorating spray and just spray painted it all blue. I also sprayed blue mini ice cream cones to go on top. To serve the homemade Cinderella castle birthday cake I had all the fixings so people could make banana splits or sundaes. Everybody seemed to enjoy the idea as oppose to the traditional birthday cake.

Homemade Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake Design

Homemade Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake Design

My daughter always loves Cinderella and princess castle so I made a Cinderella Castle Birthday Cake Design for her 5th birthday. I didn’t want to buy more pans so I used whatever pans I had to bake the cake.

I baked a square cake for the bottom part and a round cake for the upper level. I also used 2 cupcakes and an ice cream cone to make the main tower. Since the castle always has many towers so I used 4 pillar cake stands and ice cream cones to make more towers and arranged them around the castle to make the castle looked bigger.

I got used to decorate cakes with buttermilk cream so I made the cream with unsalted butter, fresh milk and sugar. I covered the ice cream cones with cream and rolled them over colored sugar. My daughter just loved the castle and thought it was the coolest castle cake.

Homemade Cinderella's Castle Cake

Homemade Cinderella's Castle Cake

My three year old daughter decided that she wanted a Cinderella Birthday party and had already been to Disney before. We decided to see about a princess castle cake.

We did 2 cake mixes and decided on 3 layers for height. My husband really got into it and decided to use piping for the castle towers. We then put cupcakes on top of the piping and cones on top of that. I then put icing on the piping to look like vines.

I decorated with all sorts of fun candies. We used M&M's, Twizzlers, gumdrops, Starburst to all add fun to the cake and for the kids eyes.

Her eyes were huge when she saw it. It was a lot of work but she loved it and so did the adults. It was so much fun.

This cake was so fun and a labor of LOVE! We started at night after the little ones went to bed and then finished candy touches in the morning. I forgot to take a picture of the last touches.... I also piped green on the vines in the middle. You should see my FUN Fashion cake that I made last year for my 6 year old daughter!
