I made this cake using a square tin, making 2cakes with standard sponge mix from my favourite recipe book. I then made them into a Victoria sponge by adding jam and buttercream. I then covered the cake in vanilla frosting, I then put chocolate chip muffins on each corner that I cut flat, I then put an icecream cone upside down on each muffin to create the turrets I covered each icecream cone in pink candy melts and sprinkled with pink sugar. I then put alternate pink and white mini marshmallows around the top edge to make the top of the castle walls. I then piped pink buttercream around the bottom edge of the cake, I then piped the writing with a pink writing pen and added repunzul from tangled. I then added squares of chocolate for the draw bridge and smarties for the path. My niece was absolutely amazed and loved that it had her name and repunzul from tangled as she wants to be her! I was really pleased with how it came out as this was one of the first cakes I made and feel it started my love for baking and decorating cakes
This cake was made for my daughter's birthday as she was very specific that she needed a Princess Castle cake. This is a 2 tier cake. This tier has three layers and each layer is a combination of Vanilla, Chocolate and Cherry flavors (neopolitan cake) The layers are filled with Cherry Chocolate Ganache and is frosted with Cherry Buttercream. I used pureed cherries (no artificial flavoring used!) for the cherry buttercream and the pink colour is because of that as i didnt want to use any food coloring. I used sugar cones for the towers and covered it with sugar balls. the srea surrounding the castle was given a grass effect and the pathway to the castle was made of chcoolate sprinkles. The doors and windows are made of fondant and i used golden coin chocolates for the walls.
Everyone just loved the castle cake and thought it was store bought. My daughter was very happy and proud to inform her friends that the cake was made by her mother !
This Homemade Princess Castle 1st Birthday Cake is this cake I baked for my daughter's first birthday party. Initially I was very skeptical, but I got lots 'n lots of ideas from this web site which really gave me confidence to make this special cake for my little one's first birthday.
I baked three 23 cms chocolate cakes and three 15 cms chocolate cakes separately. Vanilla butter cream icing was pasted on all layers and on sides. Pink marzipan was used to cover the cake. The towers were made of three ice cream waffle cones.Later decorated with icing and sprinkles. All items in the cake were edible except the toy little girl. Baking cakes took only one day and decorating took 2 days. I decorated the towers two days before the party.
At the end of the day, I got lot of appreciation for my cake and I really felt very special. It was a very daring venture but I really loved the experience.
