Funny 50th Birthday Graveyard Cake

Funny 50th Birthday Cake Graveyard Cake

My mother turned 50 2 years ago. At 40 she had her 1st birthday cake ever (because her birthday is on Thanksgiving). She cried so hard over a plain cake I knew I had to do something good for her 50th.

Well I also make chocolates  and have lots of molds for Halloween.  So I  broke out the tombstone molds. Some I did with purple “RIP” and outlines, others  in white, both filled with milk chocolate. I made some with white chocolate, but added black coloring to get a real nice grey that looks like stone.

I found a candle at the store that was a tombstone and said “over the hill” on it.  Then I placed that in the middle of the cake, then in front of it I used some icing to make a small rectangle (like a fresh grave), then I put crushed Oreo crackers on top to look like dirt.

Then I made some icing green and used a grass tip to cover the whole cake. After that I added all the tombstones, making sure not to make them all even and to put some leaning.

Then all I had to do was say  “thanx” to all the compliments on my 50th birthday cake, lol.

Coolest 50th Birthday Toilet Cake

Funny 50th Birthday Cake Toilet Cake

I made this 50th birthday toilet cake for a co-worker, everyone loved it. The only thing eatable is the pound cake covered in white icing for the bowl. Inside the bowl is blue jello cubed to look like water and a giant tootie roll curled and shaped.

The floor is cardboard covered in white paper and I drew squares and glued the blue paper diamonds on. The base is a floral form covered in white paper and the tank is a cardboard box also covered in white paper and I added a real tank handle I purchased at a hardware store.

The tank is held on by skewers attached threw the tank to the floral form and the floral form is attached to the floor with floral picks. The pound cake is on a small paper plate and is also attached to the floral form by skewers. The lid is cardboard cut and covered with white printer paper that I typed out the wording on my computer.

50th Over the Hill Cake

50th Birthday Cake Over the Hill Cake

My uncle turned 50 and he is incredibly accident prone. Due to another accident, he had recently lost vision in his right eye.  My aunt wanted a fun cake that wouldn’t hurt his feelings. During a phone conversation with him, he spoke on the need to be bubble wrapped because of his latest injury. It sparked the idea for this cake. Bubble wrapped man falling over the hill!

The figure has his hand gesturing that he is  “ok “, which fit perfectly!  My uncle loves banana cream pie, so I did a banana cake with banana custard in the center. I folded crushed, toasted graham pie crust in it for a little texture, along with some heath bar crunch. Iced in a traditional butter cream. My uncle was incredibly happy with his 50th birthday cake!

The Joker 50th Birthday Cake

This was one of my favorite cakes I sculpted this year! My client was surprising his brother for his 50th birthday and asked if I could sculpt his favorite version of the Joker with the saying Its no joke turning 50 in caption bubble. I was super excited. The joker is completely cake sculpted from three 1/2  sheet cakes then placed on top of a half sheet cake. I hand painted the shading on the cake. His brother loved the cake and sent me a photo and many thanks. I hope you enjoy my 50th birthday cake.

Golf Themed Cake

Golf Themed 50th Birthday Cake

Hi all, here’s my golf themed cake I did for a 50th birthday for a male. I tried to incorporate a few of the elements that go with golf – the green, the argyle pattern on the base tier to represent the golf sweater, the golf cart (my favorite) and bag and ball. Then there is also sand for the bunkers.

I think this might be my neatest cake so far, and a huge achievement for me. The sizes are 35cm (14′) and 25cm (10″). The golf cart took hours and hours to make. I had to work out the size and I was super super nervous about the possible outcome so I really took my time with it. Being white I was also nervous about it getting soiled in some way. I used a large rectangular cutter to cut the canopy from rolled fondant mixed with quite a bit of tylose to ensure it gets nice and hard to be sturdy enough to sit on top. It was only after that I learnt about pastillage.

The golf ball is a polystyrene dummy ball that I cut in half and covered with thick fondant, then used a ball tool to make the indents. I think one of the “fails” on this 50th birthday cake is the golf bag. It should have been taller and could have been more detailed, since I went all out with the other figurines. To me it lacked realism and it was a bit untidy. All the logos are edible prints. The flag pole is a skewer painted silver and the sticks holding up the canopy on the cart is also skewers, painted black.
