Caterpillar Birthday Cake

I decided cupcakes was the best way to go with my daughter's first birthday cake. She has a picture in her room of a caterpillar that we used as a guide when coloring the icing for the cupcakes.

The head of the caterpillar is a marble cake mix baked in an 8" round pan. The cupcakes are made of chocolate and vanilla cake mixes. The pieces are all iced in #16 stars using buttercream icing.

The head was my daughter's piece to eat and make a mess with and the cupcakes were for everyone else.
