These is a chocolate butter cake,with vanilla frosting.Cut into three layers each.The frosting is spread in between each layer. The cake is then cover with chocolate vanilla frosting. It is put to cool for half an hour. Then it is cover with fondant. It take me 3hours to decorate these cake. I am very pleased and happy with the result. I always and all the time put love in my work. For i believe,something that is done with love and patience.will always turn out with "LOVE" My love for baking will never end till the day i die. For i know,one who look at my work. will always remember me,not with tears but with laughter. I am a Singaporean.And proud to be one. Love to share my work with all,out there. I baked 1 16" and 1 12" round cake and used a carousel 2-tier kit I found at the craft store. This circus cake requires dowels, I used wooden ones to hold the layers. The inside had confetti in the batter and I used the confetti frosting to decorate.
The clowns were piped on using a Wilton tip, the heads and balloons can be found at the craft store. I made med dots for the borders and start ip for the name. On top I placed an edible candy Happy Birthday also. It was an outdoor summer party so I picked a place close to home and went to get the cake from home, assembled it at the party.
This Carnival Cake Design was made for a Sweet Sixteen Carnival themed birthday party. I used a homemade recipe for the three layers and covered it with buttercream frosting and fondant. The glittered mask were made a couple of days before from colored gumpaste and painted with edible glitter after they got hard enough.
It is preferable to do it no less than 3 days in advance (at least were there's high humidity). I just got creative with royal icing in blue and brown to make the other details. I spent a couple of hours in the masks, one day baking and one day decorating, it was fun after all!
