This cake I made for my son's second birthday and literally takes very little skill. My son is in love with work sites so as I was shopping at Toys-r-us one day I spotted this (cheap) set of construction vehicles and decided to make a theme from it.
I baked a round chocolate cake. The icing is a cream cheese frosting that I colored brown. I iced the cake not being too cautious of crumbs since it fits into the whole look of the cake. I crushed oreo cookies for rocks/dirt that I scattered all over the cake and piled up some crumbs of leftover chocolate cake I had to make the big dirt pile. I then placed all the figurines and trucks on and around the cake. Very Simple! My son as well as his girl cousins, LOVED the cake.
