Here are the instructions for this Cookie Monster Birthday Cake. Cake: sponge, eyes: Kimberly Coconut Creams (marshmallow biscuits) with Cadbury’s Chocolate buttons stuck on with melted chocolate, mouth: melted chocolate, fur: Vanilla Butter Cream icing made with about 25% extra icing sugar and coloured with a tablespoon of blue food colouring.
Once the sponge had cooled, the melted chocolate was poured over the top of the cake. Then the eyes were stuck onto the melted chocolate. With a knife mark out the outline of the mouth. As the chocolate was cooling I began piping the icing on the sides of the cake using a star tip and a syringe. Start at the bottom squeezing small amounts of icing at a time. I worked upwards in sections to minimize the times I had to rotate the cake. Just make sure you have enough icing beneath to hold any more icing up. Before pulling the syringe away push it into the icing slightly as this will make sure the icing doesn’t pull away from the cake.
To finish the Cookie Monster Birthday Cake I placed a cookie in his mouth.
I made this Cookie Monster Birthday Cake for my son's 2nd birthday. He absolutely loves Cookie Monster. After looking at many Cookie Monster cakes on this site I printed a picture of Cookie's face and then shaped his body around the face.
I made 1-13x9 cake and 2- 9 inch round cakes. I cut the face out of one of the round cakes and cut the other round cake in half and placed it next to the 13x9 cake to make his body. I used the Betty Crocker buttercream recipe for icing and Wilton royal blue coloring with the grass tip. I made a large chocolate chip cookie for cookie to hold from regular cookie dough!
My son absolutely loved it as well as all the other kids at the party!

I used a mini 3d teddy bear pan to make the Homemade Cookie Monster Birthday Cake. I used the grass tip 2 create his fur.
For the bigger cake I made a chocolate chip cookie recipe and pressed it into a sheet pan. I then used jello cutters to create the name and I had to hand cut the 1. I also crushed cookies in a bag and placed around the sides.
On top I used mini Chips Ahoy cookies and broke a few apart to make the appearance of cookie crumbs. For his eyes I melted white chocolate, put it in a baggy, cut a small hole at the bottom and then squeezed little circles onto wax paper. I then painted the pupils with food coloring.
I made this Cookie Monster Cookie Birthday Cake for my friend's 19th birthday back in 2008. She is in love with the character so I thought this was a good idea to make for her.
For this cake, I used regular cookie mix (Betty Cocker). Then I used blue and black icing for the eyes, body, and mouth. This was really inexpensive to make and the cool thing about it, was that it was made out of cookies! How yummy is that?
This is a perfect choice if you do not want to spend a lot of money.

After reading a few other reviews on here I improvised on the Elmo cake pan as well but giving the monster a bigger mouth and frosting over the nose shape in the pan. I made buttercream icing tinted royal blue for the fur and chocolate icing for the mouth.
The addition of a couple of chocolate chip cookies on the Cookie Monster Birthday Cake made for one very happy 2 year old's birthday !
