Cool Monogram Bridal Shower Cake

This cake was made for a friend’s bridal shower at work. It is a 1/4 sheet cake and is made of ½ yellow cake (with French vanilla pudding) and chocolate cake (with chocolate pudding). I always using pudding in my cake mixes to help add moisture and it also seems to help them retain their shape really well.

I used 4 cake nails (the nail used to make roses) in the center of my cake to help it bake more evenly and this also seems to help the cake not have such a big dome in the middle. I learned this little tip from cake decorating website.

The icing is buttercream. I used Wilton’s decorator icing in the tubes in purple for the borders. (Unless you have a small area to decorate, I don’t suggest using them as they don’t have a lot of icing in them and it took about 7 or 8 tubes for this cake.)

The monogram is made from white sugar sheets cut on my Cricut cake machine that I “painted” with purple icing coloring gel. I also added white edible pearls around the tops and bottom. Each pearl was put on by hand.

Everyone raved about the cake. My friend really liked the monogram.
