Cool Pregnant Belly Cake

I have been making cakes off and on for a few years. My niece asked me to make a pregnant belly cake for her for a friend’s baby shower. I have never made a cake like this before so I looked to the internet for inspiration. For this cake I decided to use the Wilton wonder mold pan for the “boobs” and the Wilton soccer ball pan for the “belly”.  When I finished baking all the cakes and laid them out on the cake board, the “boobs” were too big so I had to cut them down to make them look right.

Lucky for me, the cakes were very easy to get to the right size when I cut them. It is also best to freeze the cakes a bit before you cut them down so they do not fall apart.  When I had all the cakes the right size I used butter cream frosting to ice them and then used fondant to cover them and then added my decorations.  The butterflies are fabric butterflies that I purchased from Dollar Tree, the flower I made out of fondant with a cookie cutter.

This cake was very easy to make and I can’t wait to make another one!!
