Homemade 2nd Birthday Thomas Cake
I had a go at making the 2nd Birthday Thomas Cake from Debbie Browne's character cake book - very tricky and took a long time, but I was really pleased with the result!
You bake a sponge that is 12" x 8", slice into 3 equal parts and layer with buttercream, then sculpt the basic train shape out of it. Then comes lots of colouring icing and modeling paste, and sticking all the elements together. I found the face quite tricky, as it kept slipping down. I think less sugar glue & maybe letting the face dry separately might've helped!
The instructions were extremely thorough and precise, but fairly easy to follow - now everyone wants one for their birthday!
