Coolest 40th Martini Cake

I made a Homemade 40th Martini Cake for 2 women turning 40 years old. The cake was strawberry and vanilla flavored with a fondant covering with fondant decorations. My 16 year old daughter, Cari and I made the cake. I baked cakes for 2 evenings and built the cake on a Friday night. It took about 8 hours to put together and decorate the cake. It was a very rainy and humid evening so the fondant was not that easy to work with. Chocolate fondant (Wilton brand) has a great consistancy on a normal day.

The cake was a strawberry recipe I got online that was butter based and had strawberry puree and strawberry jello mix. It turned out very moist and tasted great. The white cake was a mix made with Fresca soda instead of water. I marbled the 2 flavors together giving it a great look when cutting the cake. The brown and blue colors were a request by my customer, Carlos, the fiance of one of the women. I wanted to do the 2 top layer up on pillars but, the cake was too soft and my little sticks that I usually use to hold up cakes were not strong enough for this one. It was also soft cake and fondant because of the warm weather.

I am pleased with how my cake turned out overall. I am always so happy and proud when people ooooh and ahhhh over my cakes!
