Homemade Abby Cadabby Birthday Cake
I like doing cupcakes much more than cakes because I enjoy making an awesome display for the cakes and this Abby Cadabby Birthday Cake I made recently for a friend' daughter was the best. I got so many compliments and people wanting to order from me. As you can see she was having Abby Cadabby for her theme (her daughter's name is Abby) so I decided on cupcakes since I already have the Wilton cupcake stand.
I baked 3 different flavors, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry with buttercream icing that I colored pink/purple. I used pink and purple cups with polka dots and since I could not find cupcake picks I made them. I bought Abby Cadabby stickers, stuck them on purple cardstock, cut them out, then attached them to toothpicks. I piped the frosting on the cupcakes using the star tip in a swirl pattern and also the tip that has several holes to look like grass or hair in this case. I printed out a picture I found online and glued it to tagboard for the top of the stand. and hung curled ribbon on the rest of the stand.
I then took two box tops taped together and wrapped them with pink gift wrap and took squares of tissue to decorate and cover any seems on the box and on the topper. It still needed more to me so I looked around my house and found my scrapbook paper with which I made her name. I just traced and cut out the letters in purple, hot pink, and pink and layered them then I went over them with some glitter gel I had. I wrapped some skewers with ribbon and attached the letters and stuck them in the box where I glued some Styrofoam underneath, then added more curled ribbon.
It all turned out so nice I am currently working on another for this weekend. I love creating especially when I can do it on a budget just using things around my house.
