Coolest Accordion Cake

This was technically a “just because” cake that I made for “Weird Al” Yankovic. I’ve seen him 7 times in concert, and have met him 4 times. I gave this cake to him the 4th time we met, on July 18, 2008.

I went to see him at Meadowbrook Music Festival in Rochester Hills, MI. I had backstage passes for myself and my friend Annette.

The cake was a 13 x 9 devil’s food cake that I cut a section out of for the keyboard. I decorated it by heating up a can of dark chocolate frosting, and pouring it over the cake. Then, I put the keys and bellows on with buttercream frosting, and also decorated it with pink and yellow flowers.

It unfortunately got smooshed in the bag I was carrying it in, but I took the picture before I left for the concert. I apologized to Al about it getting smooshed, and, sweetheart that he is, he said “I’m sure it’s still good.” He’s a very nice man, for whom I always bring something tasty. Cookies that look like him, and chocolates, too. The accordion cake was a first. Hope you like it. :)
