Homemade Alice in Wonderland Birthday Cake
My daughter is obsessed with Alice and really wanted an Alice in Wonderland Birthday Cake for her 3rd birthday. She went and saw the movie with daddy during the day, and even wore her Alice in Wonderland costume to her party. After searching everywhere I found a Wilton storybook doll pan on eBay.
I used a box chocolate cake mix and after baking it transferred the cake to a piece of cardboard covered in foil. I found the directions for decorating the cake online and used them as a guideline for where to end the apron and start the dress. I made homemade buttercream icing. I used a star tip to fill in the apron and legs with white, then used Wilton dye to do the remainder of the dress in blue.
I then used yellow Wilton dye for the hair, and black Wilton dye for the shoes, and bow. I used a small round tip to do the eyes and mouth, and outline the dress and legs. In the past I have just done white icing on the sides and decorated the surface of the cake, but I went ahead and extended the blue, white and yellow all the way down the sides of the cake.
