Alligator Cupcake Cake

This Alligator cupcake cake was so much fun! Giving credit where credit is due, this idea came from a book titled "Hello, Cupcake" (I got mine at a local craft store).

Using one cake mix, bake 24 regular cupcakes. Ice them with "gator-green" buttercream by piping on overlapping rows of "scales". Arrange them in the order seen in the photo (I was 2 short, so my tail wasn't as long as the original design). Add Oreo crisps (from the 100 calorie packs) for the raised scales.

Use candy bananas for the claws, and large marshmallows cut into triangles for the teeth. "Glue" two additional large marshmallows end to end to form the eyes. Cover them with green icing, and place on top of the gators "head". Use black icing or a small chocolate candy (such as a Jr. Mint) for the eyeballs.

Big WOW factor, simple project!
