Coolest Homemade Angry Birds Cake for an 8th Birthday Party

Since my daughter was having her 8th birthday party at an indoor trampoline park, she wanted an Angry Birds themes cake and party.

I started off by baking 4 9x13x2 cakes (2 vanilla, 2 chocolate) to make a two layer 18x13x4 cake as the base. I alternated the cake layers so that one half was chocolate on vanilla, and the other half was vanilla on chocolate; pretty much a black and white cake scheme. I filled the layers with pink tinted cream cheese frosting. I then proceeded with making the “main” character, the red Angry Bird, based off of the invitation. This was a strawberry cake (from scratch) made in a small Pyrex bowl. The two halves of the sphere were held together with the pink cream cheese frosting.

The base and the bird were then both crumb-coated with the remaining CC frosting.

The base was then iced with green for grass and decorated with Keebler Fudge Sticks as structures, and the other Angry Birds and some of the pigs. The birds and the pigs were made from strawberry cupcakes that were shaped and then covered and decorated with fondant; edible marker was used for the facial features that weren’t fondant.

The big red bird was covered with “feathers” using a leaf tip; fondant was used for the eyes and beak. Once the red bird was placed onto the base, I edged the whole cake with a multi-opening tip (grass tip. I also places grass around all of the structures and the birds.

The kids went crazy over the cake, with some not believing that I made it. It was a lot of fun to make such a detailed character cake.
