This Ants Cake and Cupcakes was made by a family friend for my 4 children who share their birthdays in June. The triplets turned 1 and my oldest daughter turned 3.
My husband and I decided on the theme, because they are always under our feet, busy carrying something around, eating, and just moving about, they are our little ants.
The cake that we asked to make is a sugar bowl with little sugar cubes surrounded by little ants on little cupcakes and on the bowl.
The cupcakes are plain normal cupcakes with icing and liquorish ants. The bowl and sugar cubes are made out of a round cake normally baked with hardened icing and also liquorish ants.
The children were not dress to match the theme as I said that no two ants look the same when they are carrying something around. This was a very nice idea and gave me the confidence to do the next birthday cake myself.
