Homemade Apple Laptop Cake
This Homemade Apple Laptop Cake is a cake for my step-son's 20th birthday. He's a big fan of Apple products so I decided to surprise him with a laptop cake. This cake consists of the laptop, case, Iphone, and some post-its and pen.
Laptop and case are chocolate cakes filled with chocolate pastry cream. Everything is covered in black fondant. I made a separate fondant for the keyboard; used the back of the knife to put indents and wrote the letters using the icing writer from Wilton. I have white fondants and colored it accordingly: Post-its are yellow fondant, pen is blue fondant, Iphone is a chocolate bar with edible screen.
The screen is made of styroboard and printed the screen and covered it with plastic to make the cake look real...not edible.
