Easy Homemade Army Tank Cake for a 6th Birthday

I made this tank cake for my son’s 6th birthday for his army themed party. Thanks to this site I used some of the creative ideas from others.

I used two boxed cake mixes one 9×13 pan, and one loaf pan for the turret that I trimmed to the appropriate size. I stacked the small piece on top of the 9×13 cake to make it look like the top of a tank. I used two containers of white whipped frosting. I tinted 1 1/2-frosting with Wilton’s green and 1/2- Wilton brown in separate bowls.

I mixed the food coloring until it got to the color I wanted. I iced the whole cake with the green. And I used the brown spots for the camouflage look. The Oreo cookies were used for the wheels, the cannon is a fruit loop cereal straw covered with green frosting, the turret lid is an Oreo covered in icing.

I also cut a port hole to put the army man in at the top of the cake. I placed some green army guys and party favor grenades around for decoration. And there you have it “The Champ’s Army Tank Cake”. Have fun creating yours.
