Homemade Army Tank Cake Design
I made this Army Tank Cake Design for my son's 8th Birthday. He's had an army party the past two years and I thought this year it would be neat to make his cake. I use ideas from this site and others.
I made a yellow cake mix in a 9x13 pan and added blue food coloring to make it green. Then I made another chocolate cake mix and marbled it into the other cake. The top was made in a loaf pan. I frosted the whole thing with chocolate frosting and used green food coloring spray (bought at Michael's crafts) for the camouflage look.
Oreos were used for the wheels and the tracks were made from Hershey bars broke into sections and then cut in half. The cannon was an Oreo fun stick and of course we needed an army man to drive and his gun. I also lightly frosted the cardboard bottom and sprinkled it with crushed Oreos to look like dirt. I wrote my sons initials and age on the back of the tank in green gel.
The cake was a huge hit with everyone! And it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I can't wait to do another one.
