Cool Homemade Carved Sleeping Baby Cake

First proper cake I’ve ever made – was so chuffed! I’ve seen enough “Ace of Cakes” to convince myself I was a cake maker!

This homemade baby cake is made of a 3 tier sponge with regal ice covering and sugarpaste / regal ice decorations. The baby is a separate sponge carved baby layer on board, iced separately and then covered with leaves to hide the join. Took 14 hours (2 days) to make.

Sponge split with buttercream & lemon curd. The white regal ice layer was FAR from perfect. First cake I’ve ever made so everything was a bit wonky but I covered all the mistakes up best I could. Hope you like it. I’m well pleased.

It was for my friend Sarah’s baby shower, her baby is going to be called Molly, that’s why I put a little sugar ‘M’ on the baby’s dress! How cute! Tasted good too!

I created this homemade baby cake myself because I thought babies come from the patch at the end of the garden (don’t they?)!
