Cool Homemade Baby Ultrasound Cake

This baby cake was actually created for a “Reveal” party. The expecting parents ask me for a creative way to announce the sex of the baby for a party they were holding for family and friends. After throwing around a few different ideas this is what we came up with.

I had an edible image made of an ultrasound that was done about 1 month before they found out what the baby was (so no secrets in the picture…lol). The cake was my regular yellow birthday cake colored blue or pink for the sex of the baby. I make my own marshmallow fondant and cut out the letters to spell out “Who Am I…” and then the names they had picked out for the baby.

I decorated one side of the cake for a boy in blue and green and the other side for a girl in pink and yellow. I originally planned to use a set of blocks that I found multi colored, not just pink or blue that spell baby with the B & A in blue and green and the B & Y in pink and yellow but when I put them on the cake they took up too much space so I went with just creating booties and used some baby feet candies I had on hand already. *I’m sure I’ll get to use those blocks soon enough*

My friend and his family loved the cake and couldn’t wait for them to cut it to find out the sex of the baby. It was a wonderful and unique way to celebrate this precious new life. I’m sure I’ll be doing this one again.
