Coolest Baby Cake Design

I made this Baby Cake Design for my son’s naming day, I absolutely love this cake, it’s so sweet.

Each layer of this cake is white chocolate mud cake, baked from scratch at home. I used Betty Crocker vanilla frosting over each layer, even under the homemade marshmallow fondant, to give it more taste. Everything on this cake is edible.

To start with, I made two round cakes and stacked them together to form the bottom layer. The baby ‘bottom’ top layer was baked in a small stainless steel bowl, which was a gamble that paid off! I iced the bottom layer with frosting and cut out fondant baby feet using a cutter to decorate the front. Now that was the easy part.

The top layer, the ‘baby bottom’ involves a little sculpting, I used white fondant to make the nappy, and fringed the edges to make it look lifelike. The legs are purely fondant. The feet (my favourite part) are actually formed out of rice bubble bars, I rounded them off and then moulded fondant around them and made teensy little toes! Soo cute! I finished it off with a blue piece of fondant as the blanket, which I had lightly printed a patchwork design and stars on before I spread it over the baby to make it look like the baby was shyly hiding underneath!

This was so much fun to do!
