Homemade Baby Rattle Cake
I had a baby shower cake to do for a girl in my Sunday School class and wanted to do something simple but cute and something different. My mother suggested I do a Baby Rattle Cake and after putting our heads together we decided to get the round 8" cake pan with the rounded bottom and then I could just put a loaf cake between to rounds long-wise.
She was having a boy, so once I had the cake assembled on the cake board, I iced the whole thing blue, then used yellow star tips to do the lines on each "ball". Once I had the yellow lines on, I went around and covered the rest of the cake with star tips using the same blue as my base icing.
This was my first cake that was done with no "dummy" or picture guide, and I thought it was adorable. Not a lot of fru-fru on it, but still just too cute.
