Homemade Ball Of Wool / Knitting Cake
I was asked by a friend to make a cake as a ball of wool for someone who loves knitting. This is the Ball Of Wool / Knitting Cake I came up with!
The cake is a vanilla Madeira sponge done in the Wilton ball tin I have stuck the 2 halves together with butter icing. I then covered the cake with a thin layer of butter icing and placed in the fridge. Then made each strand of wool with fondant by hand, to stick them onto the cake I just brushed it with some water I also made the knitting needles out of fondant. The cake was then stuck to the board with some butter icing. All the butter icing I make my-self. The cake did take about 6hrs to ice.
