Homemade Ballet Shoes Cake Design
This Homemade Ballet Shoes Cake Design was made for a fourteen year old who loves ballet. I made a two tier sponge with buttercream filling. The masks I made out of fondant, rolled out the fondant flat, free hand cut the shapes, then placed cottonwool dusted with cornflour underneath to shape cheeks and nose shape
the ballet shoes.
I mixed fondant with tylose. I then rolled two sausage shapes the same size, with my ball tool I shaped the inside of the shoe, slightly bent the front of the shoes to mimic real ones. I then put a stake through one shoe so I could stand it upright on the cake. I also made soles in the same colour as the lining.
The cake I covered in white fondant and used a textured mat to apply the pink, then reversed the colours on the top cake. Once the cake was settled I painted the shoes, flowers and fondant with snowflake lustre which gives it the satin effect. The starburst was made from fondant then I added the plumes to finish it
