Homemade Barbecue Cake

This homemade barbecue cake was made from the great ideas from this website. The hot dogs are made from tootsie rolls and Starbursts. The burgers are rice krispie squares, shaped into burgers and coloured with Nutella. Both burgers and hot-dogs were painted with black icing for the grill marks.

This is really neat!! When I first looked at it I thought that the hamburgers and hotdogs were real. But as I read the description my mouth dropped. You did a really good job on this cake!!!

Looked good enough to eat!

I made this cake for my son's 20th birthday and it turned out great!

I used to make cut out decorated cakes for my kids when they were younger but haven't in many years. Before my son's birthday this year he said he missed my "special" cakes so I couldn't help myself, I had to make him one.

I found this site and just started viewing different categories to come up with a theme. I came across this one and thought it looked so real and he is my "grill master" so it was perfect!

I followed your instructions with one exception. I used cocoa rice crispy cereal to make the hamburgers. They looked so amazing. The coloring and texture of the cereal made they look just like real grilled burgers!

Thanks for the idea, it made his day!
