Cool Homemade Bright Purple Barbie Birthday Cake

My daughter wanted a Barbie and The Diamond Castle cake for her 4th birthday so I made one using the doll that came with my dress cake pan as a practice cake, which is “Barbie Cake 173”. This is the one I made for the party. It’s two 9″ round cakes with the Wilton Wonder Mold Cake Pan on top. I added the two rounds on the bottom because I was putting a full size Barbie into it.

I just used a Betty Crocker box mix and Betty Crocker frosting from the can for the filling and the outside of the cake. Then I used Wilton’s Ready to Use Decorator Icing colored with Wilton Icing Colors in pink, blue, and purple to decorate the outside of it. I smoothed on the blue then I used the Wilton #18 star tip for the purple and pink. The pink lines were the small round tip and the border around the base of it was the shell tip.

I sprinkled Wilton Pink Colored Sugar all over the purple part of the dress to give it a shimmery sparkly look. Once it was done I put the Barbie (Alexa from the Barbie and The Diamond Castle movie) into it. It was extra special using her because when you squeezed her hand she sang two different songs from the movie and her necklace lit up.

Everyone absolutely loved those two features, both kids and adults!
