Fun Homemade Polka Dot Barbie Cake

This was really fun to make, this was my first Barbie cake. My sister had the kit, so I borrowed the pan for the Barbie body. I bought the Barbie head at Michaels. Very inexpensive!

So I made the body, used a regular cake mix from the store. It took longer to bake than I thought it would, about an hour, you have to watch it to make sure it doesn’t burn. When it was done, I let it cool.

I iced the cake with home made Wilton buttercream icing. I iced it pink, that’s my daughters favorite color. Then I iced the Barbie torso. I just took a butter knife and iced it with the pink. It is hard to ice her body, the icing does not want to stick, so finally got it on and I had to hold the dolls hair up with a twisty tie, until the icing dried a bit and didn’t get in her hair, then placed her in the cake.

I used a star tip with a bag and did white and purple dots all around her dress. I also made straps on the torso of the doll. She loved her cake and it was fun to make!
