Homemade Barbie and Purse Cake

Homemade Barbie and Purse Cake

I made this Barbie cake for my 11 year old. I liked both the idea of a purse and a Barbie. So I did both.

The base of the cake are two 9'13 cakes put together. After the cakes were cooled I placed them in the freezer till hard. Then I made white frosting in the texture of playdough. I rolled it out to fit the top of the two cakes. Then froze the cake.

For the Barbie I used 3 different sized round cake pans and then placed them biggest to smallest. I froze those cakes till hard. I then frosted the layers so that it was forming a dress shape. This frosting was more soft. Then I froze it. I then rolled out yellow playdough and formed it around the frozen dress. I placed the top part of Barbie in and formed the dress and cut out a frosting using chilled frosting that could be cut and shaped.

With the purse I used a 9in round cake pan. After cake was baked and cooled I cut it in half, frosted the two together with more soft frosting then froze. Then rolled out chilled frosting and covered the purse. I use different sized round lids for the circles on the cake.

Love your Cake

I love your cake. How long did it take you to make it? Did you make your own frosting. If so how did you make it?

Play dough?

Did you really use play dough, or fondant that was like play dough??
